Opened up my copy D&DGs this morning and was looking at the weapon damage by increased/decreased size. (pg 35. Tables 2-4, 2-5).
Basically what the problem is that in certain cases moving the opposite direction in the chart does not yield the same result as the other chart.
Charts in question:
8d6 to 4d6 on one chart.
4d8 to 8d6 on the other chart.
I don't think this was done intentially since it would result in the strange case of the deity getting smaller then bigger and ending up with a different weapon damage.
Pretty minor error though in the scheme of things.
