i don't know if it would be in topic in this thread but who would you like to file some of the other roles.

I'd love to see Christian Bale as Bard the bowman but I doubt it would happen.

Robbie Coltrane would be a good Beoron.

One more delay to shoggoths on the big screen. :\

The Hobbit followed by The Battle of Five Armies could work. TTT, RotK and Narnia have been building a nice niche for fantasy themed war movies. So far the results have been lacking, Dragon Wars and In the Name of the King, but with competent direction, a gem could easily be made.

I actually view it as a speed-up for shoggoths on the big screen. Since the producers/studios are still somewhat sceptical about it, so this could help.

Now that you mention it, I'd love to see a fantasy war movie that follows the same beats of contemporary war movies. Much like Magnificent Seven is a cowboy version of Seven Samurai.

Saving Bilbo Baggins with Matt Damon as the Hobbit and Tom Hanks as Gandalf?

I'll state again my firm conviction that Martin Freeman must be Bilbo.

I'm open to the recasting of Bilbo. I dont know any of Martin Freeman's work.

It will be interesting to see who is cast as Thorin Oakenshield.
