From one fish to another:

Delay Poison
Conjuration (Healing)
Level: Brd 2, Clr 2, Drd 2, Pal 2, Rgr 1
Components: V, S, DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 hour/level
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

The subject becomes temporarily immune to poison. Any poison in its system or any poison to which it is exposed during the spell’s duration does not affect the subject until the spell’s duration has expired. Delay poison does not cure any damage that poison may have already done.

Presumably if you're knocked unconscious or paralysed, the poison has already caused the damage, and hence will not cancel it.

While it's probably not technically 'damage', you have to apply some intuition to the matter. It's 'Delay' poison, not Cure or Neutralize. It's supposed to stop it from taking effect rather than curing effects of the poison that have already happened. While the term 'damage' is unclear to a certain extent, I doubt you'll find many people who don't agree that it's intended as a delay rather than a cure. That's what Neutralize Poison is for. :)

PS. Yeah, that fish is a real beauty! 23 lbs that was! It was this long. ;)
