Delay to move together or ready?

Unfortunately dismounting would be a move action and you still couldn't pull of a full attack.

Fast Mount or Dismount: You can attempt to mount or dismount from a mount of up to one size category larger than yourself as a free action, provided that you still have a move action available that round. If you fail the Ride check, mounting or dismounting is a move action. You can’t use fast mount or dismount on a mount more than one size category larger than yourself.

Very elegantly done. Does it necessarily have to be with 5' steps?

The ally steps 5' and attacks, triggering the readied action. Before the ally's attack is mechanically resolved, you step 5' and attack. You and your ally now both fulfill the conditions of flanking. You are flanking when you attack, and your ally is flanking when he attacks, after your attack is resolved.

This is one of the funniest possiblities I have ever heard suggested

"Quick, jump on my back so we can run though the flames together!"

Or the melee characters jumping on the barbarians back so they can full attack when he charges.

No - it can be done with anything up to and including a full normal move (at whatever speed that is).

It must be done with 5' steps if either party is to gain a flanking full attack, however.

I have found the way to do the 5 foot step and flank a target and have both characters get full attacks on it.
Look at the 5 foot step. On the Actions in Combat chart it is classified as a "No action" type of action. The same with the Delay action. Incidentally these two actions are the only No Action types listed in the chart.
If you read the Delay action
By choosing to delay, you take no action and then act normally on whatever initiative count you decide to act.
it could be interpreted as you are allowed to take "no action" type of actions when delaying.
So the 2 characters could do the following:
PC1 takes a 5-foot step to one side of target and delays.
PC2 takes a 5-foot step to flank and full attacks the target.
PC1 ends his delay and full attacks his target.

If the chart listed a 5-foot step as a free action then this maneuver would not be possible, but it lists the 5-foot step as a "No Action" instead. A significant difference I think.

That's what I was wondering about. Makes sense.
