Demonomicon/Fraz-Urb'luu article question

Really enjoying this article, but I have a question for all you grognards out there.

One of the other demon lords mentioned in passing in the article is "Malcanthet." The name is definitely ringing a bell for me, but I can't find it in any of my materials. I've searched the 1E MM2, Faces of Evil, Planes of Conflict, and the Dragon Magazine CD-ROM archive. I've also Googled it, to no avail.

This is driving me nuts, folks. Did this being actually appear in prior D&D material, and I just can't find it? Or is this article, in fact, it's first mention in D&D, and I'm just going nuts thinking I've seen it before?

I just Googled it, and I did get one reference, from a Spanish D&D blog. She's referred to as the Mother of Succubi. You might consider checking the BoVD, especially under Grazzt's entry, because it sounds really familiar to me too.
And wasn't the Abyss covered in Planes of Chaos?

Malcanthet is indeed the Queen of the Succubi. She was invented by Rob Kuntz for Dungeon #112; she was the patron (matron?) of one of the Maures (Elluvia). She's mentioned in issue #124 as well. So really... she's a rather new addition to the list.

You can expect more about her in both magazines now and again. Eventually, I'm sure she'll get an entry in the Demonomicon, but she's pretty far down the line behind some other old timers I'd like to get to first.

Well, I'm sure if you wanted to let someone else write it while you focused on the "old-timers," you could almost certainly find an experienced D20 and Dragon writer who'd be happy to do it.

I'd say we have at least a half-dozen "classics" we'll need to do before we seriously start covering new demon lords.

And then there are a bunch of demon lords introduced in places like Planescape and Dragon and Dungeon, so it's not like we're going to run out any time soon.

As much as a new demon lord would be interesting, there are plenty of places :cough:: "Armies of the Abyss" ::cough:: ) to look for those. As long as I've got the keys to the D&D sandbox, I'm going to stick with D&D demons.

I'd offer to write it, but somehow I don't see anyone but James Jacobs doing these for a very long time. That said, I'm all for an article on the Lord of the Abyssal Flame!

Speaking of Armies of the Abyss, are there any plans to do 3.5 updates of some of the classics as they appeared in that text. You have Demogorgon, Orcus, and a few others with name variations that appeared in the Book of Vile Darkness that have yet to be updated by WotC. Not necessarily a full-blown write up, but updated statistics and such. Heck, the same would be great for the Lords of the Nine.
