This requires some clean up since it was the rough draft, but here was my general idea for the admin area.
Admin area
Opening the bulk head leads to a T intersection with 2 more closed doors 1 to the left, the other to the right. The door to the right has a red light indicating no atmosphere.
The smaller area (taking up the available map space) was a cubicle farm where admin clerks took care of day to day accounting and bureaucratic business.
A huge tear in the floor here indicates an explosion took place, blasting the floor up into the room and spraying shrapnel everywhere. The furniture is destroyed and oddly moved toward the center of the room, but most of the papers, debris and other small objects you’d find in an office type area are absent.
Inspection of the damage reveals an old unused mineshaft under the floor. Something exploded in the shaft and after explosion everything in the room was sucked out into the shaft.
The door to the left clearly says “Commander’s Office”. According to the green light outside the bulkhead it has contaminated atmosphere. The door is jammed (from the other side). A DC 20 plus character level Computer use check will get the door to open about 1 inch. A STR check (DC 15) will then open the door enough for a human to squeeze in.
This spacious area (taking up the rectangular space to the upper left) is the office for the mine commander and his assistant. In the south east corner is his large desk, high back faux leather chair, and small cabinet. Just inside the room is the smaller, more modest desk of his assistant. The northern wall is covered with a vid display, surveillance and entertainment system.
Hiding within the space under the commander’s desk is the corpse of his assistant, Ms. Mancusci. Attractive in life, she suffered a slow choking death as the atmosphere in this room slowly turned sour, due to the directors malfunctioning AC unit. Space Adapted Mold to the layman killed her and covers her corpse. In her hand is a laser wand, with enough power in it for 1 more firing (1d2 fire damage, range 10 ft.). She used this to lock herself in the room, by frying the door control. Unfortunately she didn’t know the director had secretly installed a secret compartment between the wall and the AC unit. His clumsiness caused the AC unit to have a slow leak, which eventually made perfect atmosphere for the Spam.
In the secret compartment (Search check DC 10 plus PC level) is a stash of entertainment vids, a bag of uncut gems, enough to raise the PC’s wealth by 1-4, 1 corked bottle of Edusian wine plus personnel reports. An investigation check DC 10 will reveal these look more like blackmail documents.
Inspiration for this goes to Chaldfont for his post on page 1.
