Does anyone else besides me like Erekose's suggestion of 33 PB to force people to take an odd stat? The 33 PB character is no stronger (until level 4 perhaps) but is more interesting due to odds.

Characters with all evens all around are usually pretty boring and seem a lot more like cookie cutters. Usually something like 18 12 12 12 12 8, 14 14 14 14 14 10, 16 16 12 12 12 8 8, or 16 14 14 12 12 10 with a few modifications one way or the other and possibly racial mods in there too. The odd stat throws some spice in the mix. Admittedly, you *could* do two odds with even PB, but you get punished for it.RobotRobotI said:Buh?
I don't see how forcing an odd stat somehow makes it more interesting. More powerful, maybe, but not any more interesting.![]()
Actually, the last point might make them think hard and add a few more possibilities to the list:RobotRobotI said:And you'll see what, with 33?
18 12 12 12 12 9
14 14 14 14 14 11
16 16 12 12 12 9 8 or
16 14 14 12 12 11
instead? If people want to make cookie-cutters, forcing an odd stat isn't going to make them any less cookie-cutter. :\
Right. Erekose suggested it earlier, and it seems like a great idea.Ferrix said:A 33 pt. buy I've used in my own games and it opens up that +1 at 4th level to be potentially useful. Also, 13's in some stats are quite useful, particularly a 13 Dex or Int as a fighter type.

For instance, you might see the 17 16 12 12 10 8 8
