Devil's Plow - Leaving Ironcraig

Thraxus mutters at the display unfolding before him, "Yeah, go on Tobe, give the ruffians your gold and we'll be on our way."

His horse dances beside the Duke's and he speaks clearly, "Let me deal with these commoners sir, I'm sure as hell aware of Tobe's insightful skills in these manners but I believe that I have the greater experiance in dealing with desperate men."

"Ya shouldn't be so sure," the swordsman says with an unpleasant chuckle. "I don't much care what I kill, long as I get good money for how far I step in harm's way, y' know? Ehm, taking tolls here ain't so risky as fightin' orcs and gobbies, so ya better be offerin' plenty for the risk. An' if ya can't, we be needing yer gold. Now," he demands, stretching his brawny arms wide and showing both the size of his blade and the apparent ease with which he handles it.

"Oy! Is ya blasted coin worth me to ya than the lives of a thousand innocents! Think of it lad! What if that was your family, your friends back there in that town?! Fer the sake of the goodly folk, let us pass! Jonath asks, as politely as a dwarf can.

Adding to the Dwarf's plea: "Has there not been enough bloodshed? We are not the ennemy!"

OCC 1: Diplomacy : + 8
OCC 2: What are the two strangers standing on? Is there a lot of vegetation around that could entangle them? ;)

OODM: Steve, are you making a seperate diplomacy check or aiding Jonath in his? As for you question, no, there's not much vegetation. They're standing on a rocky trail, and while there's some shrubs and grasses around in the canyon, the majority of it is rock.

Wow, doesn't look like we'll be lacking when it comes time for negotiation.

Keeping his head bowed, so as to appear unconcious or asleep, Troll scans the area as best he can through half-open eyelids, hoping to spot something that might provide an advantage, or, if things get out of hand, a means of escape.

Spot +6

Taking in his surroundings, Troll notices that the spire of rock has a rough, cracked surface, and the top of the object is not sharply pointed-a determined climber could take refuge there. Similarly, the walls of the canyon, while high and difficult to crest, could easily be climbed a short distance-though not out of crossbow range.

Ethyan will be aiding Jonath with his check.

"I don' care about yer-" the rougher man begins, but the halberd-wielder hits him roughly in the arm with a gauntleted fist. "Shut your mouth, Garan!" he says gruffly. "Let 'em pass. You're makin' the same mistake ya did four year ago, an' it ain't yer own on the line this time. Move." Garan glares at his companion, but with another rough punch he grudgingly moves to the edge of the path, and the plate-clad man does the same. "Go on," he tells Jonath, Ethyan, and the others.

"The lives of thousands owe ye thanks lad!" Jonath tells the halberd-wielder, giving him a thankful nod. "Let's get us going! We best not waste our time!"

Riding on and thanking Heironeous for being with him, Jonath keeps his eyes ahead on the road.
