At some point that definitely wrapped around from being "Oh god not this..." to "YESSSS BE IN MY CAMPAIGN!!!"

Full disclosure: I ran a long campaign where one of the players had an edgy Tiefling Rogue. He was called Emon, which was one of the suggested names in 4E IIRC. I think you can guess what the other players immediately shortened it to. He was actually an extremely fun character once they got him going on grandiose schemes not petty intra-party larceny.

Since the other thread is not about any of the lineages in that Unearthed Arcana article, thinking of the recent (as in the last 40 years) examples of Dhampir we can all point to characters like Alucard (Castlevania), Vampire Hunter D and Blade (Marvel Comics) as examples of actual Dhampir heroes. Like the renegade Drow concept, it seems to be a common theme among them that they have something against their "fathers" and have devoted their mission to hunting various Vampires and other creatures of the night, in some cases going genocidal.

So obviously a Monster Hunter Ranger would be the primary and obvious choice. Maybe Oath of Vengeance Paladin or Hexblade Warlock being a second choice. Any ideas for other paths for Dhampirs with issues about their parents?
Primarily an Eldritch Knight with 6 levels in Undying Warlock. 1st level fighter, next one level of warlock, then 7 or 8 levels fighter, followed by 5 levels of warlock, and finally finish off with fighter.
A death dealer or dark knight, or ambassador of a vampire coven, able to travel farther from the layer than any pure blood vampire. Deal with mortal neighbors or hunt down and destroy enemies of your coven.

A campaign that deals with invaders would be a great set up to join a party of unlikely allies. You just want to defend your home, just like the humans and dwarves and elves.
