D&D 5E Diagonally Questions

Ok. And the question number 1 ? Can Attack ? 1/2 or 3/4 cover ?

In my opinion 3/4 cover is to much.

I go with half.

I think it's important to note, that even if you are using the variant grid rules, which I do, the combatants are not standing still. Story wise, they are constantly moving, even if only a little bit.

Half-cover ou 3/4 cover ?

Probably 3/4 cover because the target can focus all of its defense to 1 side, and because of the wording for 1/2 and 3/4 cover. The real answer is: it is your choice to use what makes more sense to you as the DM.

1/2 Cover: The obstacle might be a low wall, a large piece of furniture, a narrow tree trunk, or a creature, whether that creature is an enemy or a friend.

3/4 Cover: A target has 3/4 cover if about three-quarters of it is covered by an obstacle. The obstacle might be a portcullis, an arrow slit, or a thick tree trunk.

Walls seem more like large trees inhabiting a space versus a low footpath wall or piece of furniture, but your mileage may vary.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I'm pretty solidly with the majority (at least in the first page)- the guy can attack but there may be cover involved, and he can't move diagonally through a corner, and he can't move through the enemy (unless he has a special ability to do so or something).

However, let me add that a lot depends on the door.

In a human or elven fortress, a door is probably on the order of 3' or 4' wide, and you have the situation listed above, but in a small creatures' lair, a door might be narrow enough to give 3/4 or even full cover. And wider doors might be too wide for a single enemy to block, so there might be room to zigzag through after all.
