Did anyone watch Scrubs last night?

I never heard about Erik's RPGA adventure. I imagine that went over like a lead balloon, poor guy. :(

Some folks liked it quite a bit. I read it (before hearing of the hubbub) and didn't think anything of it. Some folks made a big deal out of it but eventually that died down. I think it was one of those things where one person pipes up and then suddenly others who never would have thought along those lines jumped on the protest bandwagon.

Along the same lines, the game Little Fears evoked a similar, but larger reaction, IIRC.

It's not just parenting - any story, premise, or event that connects in some way back to our lives we tend to take more notice of. It's why my wife and I get more upset in animal cruelty cases than other people - we're both pet and animal lovers. It's why I pay more attention to stories where the main character shares some of my traits, or when someone's life mirrors my own.

I agree that it's any story that I tend to have a strong connection with, but it just seems that, since I became a parent, any story involving children evoke a much stronger emotion than any story would have in the past.

Huh? The game about childhood terrors being quite real, but adults can't percieve them?

I never read the game, but I hired the artist from that book to do the majority of my interior art (she's good, btw). How was Little Fears controversial?

I'm not completely clear on it but perhaps it was thought to be a bit mature for an RPG that wasn't more clearly marked as possibly too mature for younger players? I'll search around when I get some more time, maybe on RPG.Net where I think a lot of the fence rattling took place.

Yeah, that captures the essence of what the game is about, and some of the rules arguments (ambiguities) are addressed in the follow ups, but I seem to recall (as you can likely imagine) some threads that were heated and focused on the appropriateness of the material in general, and whether such books should be openly available on game store shelves, behind the counter, shrink wrapped to avoid young eyes accidently glimpsing what is within, etc. Anyway, just the review gives enough of an idea of why I thought it might be germaine to this thread. Thanks for the link, reveal.
