Did You Back a Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter? How's The Game?

Yes, Shadowdark. I liked the system very much and it's a very quick read. I was a player when we played it with a GM who isn't very experienced in GMing ran a very disjointed, railroad adventure, and kept falling back on D&D 5E rules which really affected game play. I don't fault him and give him credit for trying. But, I don't think I got a good representation of what the system is like in play. When we play again, I'm going to GM it.

  1. MCDM/Draw Steel - Haven't because it's not out yet.
  2. DC 20 - Haven't because it's not out yet.
  3. Strongholds and Streaming - No, because I realized that I don't want that level of detail in my 5e (and my players don't want to build strongholds either)
  4. Flee Mortal! - Yes, I've used it. Good resource.
  5. The One Ring 2E - Never played it. Just reading it, I disliked it so much, I sold it to a used book store. [Didn't back the KS. Bought at retail.]
  6. Mothership 1e - Played 0e, but this boxed set is still in the shrink wrap. I've heard bad things compared to 0e, and it's not really my current group's bag.
  7. Kingdoms, Warfare - No, because I realized that I don't want that level of detail in my 5e (and my players don't want to go to war either)
  8. TMNT and Other Strangeness - Not out yet. (And I got it just for nostalgia and the art. I'm not going to play a Palladium game.)
So I've used one of them. Also, trying to decrease my KS purchases these days and reduce my FOMO.

I backed both Avatar and Coyote and Crow. I have played Avatar a bit, and it seems like a solid enough implementation of the PbtA ruleset (though more time with the conflict sections might be needed to get a full impression of how well that part works, though I do like that explicitly after every exchange there's a chance to drop out of fighting). I haven't played Coyote & Crow yet, though the world intrigues me plenty.

Adjacent to RPGs I backed Robotech Tactics, and we'll just leave it at that with no further comment. :P

I tend to avoid Kickstarters and wait for the product to be released before handing over money.

I have played Blade Runner and liked it. Though I’d prefer the new book’s setup of playing replicants rather than slave hunters.

I backed the Monty Python game. I have the PDF but haven’t got to play it yet. It reads and looks like it will play an absolute dream.

I backed the One Ring 2nd Edition (and Moria) - very happy with it, played starter set with the group and everyone seemed to enjoy it, now mainly waiting on Moria book to consider giving it a proper go, once we've run through other games on our list (currently Star Trek Adventures, then Soulbound at least, and I'd like to give WFRP 4e a go too).
