With a full five days left to go, Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere RPG has passed Avatar Legends' record of $9.5M to become the highest funding tabletop roleplaying game podcast ever! Just its first-day total of $4.3M put it at #4 in the official Million Dollar Kickstarter Club, and it looks set to comfortably set a lead of at least $2M. Backer Tracker currently projects a total of just under $12M, while Kicktraq predicts $12.3M.

While the backer count is under half that of Avatar, the Cosmere dollar total is currently sitting at nearly $9.8M. Brandon Sanderson already holds the Kickstarter record for the most funded project ever--his novel series made over $40M on Kickstarter in 2023!

Published by Brotherwise Games, the game encompasses Brandon Sanderson's entire universe of novels. It includes a world guide, a rulebook, and an adventure called Stormlight Stonewalkers. It's a new game system, based on a d20 mechanic with talent trees and skill-based magic.

It only remains to be seen how far it can go--but one thing is for sure: Brandon Sanderson has yet another world record to his name!

Also keep in mind that the 2016 $12.4M from the KDM 1.5 KS is worth more then the $13M now. Over those 8 years you buy about 25% less for each dollar spent (inflation)...

Final big update of the campaign, and they announced that they have begun work with Shawn Tomkin (designer of Ironborn, Starforged, and Strider Mode for The One Ring) on a solo mode Cosmere product for beyond the Kickstarter, and one final stretch goal, hardcover slipcases:

Dragonsteel and Brotherwise have a big livestream to show the campaign off, should be interesting to see the final results.

I must admit that it is kind of dope just to look at the kickstarter page for few minutes so shortly before the end and see backer numbers and total sum raising in quick little time intervals.

This thing look like it can go to 14 million dollars. I am honestly impressed that you can make a P&P crowdfunding like this. Our hobby is alive and kicking. :)

Yup, along with Avatar it shows the continued strong correlation between sci-fi/fantasy fandom and gamers: fun seeing the comments from Cosmere fans backing to get into games, and non-fan gamers using thus as a springboard to explore Sanderson's work (I've read all the books, and one of the Mistborn preview videos finally rubbed my two brain cells together and made me reali,e what was happening in one aspect of the books, lol).

It’s now the third highest Kickstarter ever!

I’m not actually backing this campaign in the end, but watching it is pretty amazing.

Picture of one of my favorite characters from the books, obviously a crab person
personally I am rooting for Venli and Kaladin to be An Item
