Pathfinder 1E Did You Come by the Paizo Delve?

+5 Keyboard!

First Post
I had the pleasure of running several sessions of the TPKing machine better known as the Paizo Delve, which was a short demo of The Seven Swords of Sin in which you had 20 minutes to fight some monsters in the dungeon and retrieve as many of the swords of sin that were hidden there. Some were decoys... some were real... and some were real and just really, really hard to get. If you happened to come by the booth during one of the times I was running a delve... sorry for killing your characters. But, hey, everyone had fun. One of my players on the last day even won 1 of the 7 swords that were being given out as prizes in the locked chest that everyone got a key to try and open.

If you happened to play in one of the delves and weren't paying attention to who was running the game, check this link to the Paizo Blog. I'm the guy in the maroon button-up shirt in the 3rd row down on the right. (I think Josh Frost was waiting for me to make the most unflattering facial expression possible before taking that snapshot, but oh well.)

I'm eagerly looking forward to next year's convention, though I don't know how it could possibly be any funner than this year's!

Yes, I got slaughtered twice on Sunday. Once, as the rogue, by an an axe-fireball combo trap (evaded the fire, ate the axe), followed by being stomped by a huge fire elemental -- thanks, Jason!; the second time pounded down by earth elementals (@ 16 hp a pop) -- I believe Mr. Schneider was rolling the d20 that time.

At least we found a sword the second time. :)

Yeah, I tried the delve 3 times while I was out there. My first experience was as the cleric and went thusly:

"You all open the door and see a sorceress before an alter with a jeweled sword in one hand. Roll Initiative. Okay, she wins initiative, sees the cleric sitting in the door and shoots a green ray at you. She hits, make a fortitude save. Failed? Okay, the cleric has been disintegrated".

That was my entire game... however, on the bright side, the rest of my group actually managed to kill her (thanks to a nice crit from the fighter) which netted us *two* swords.

I had a great time all three sessions I played (even the above shortened one). Good stuff.

I played once and lasted about 5 minutes. The delve was stacked insanely against the players but that was kind of the point. I thought some of the "stacking" was kind of cheesy but whatever. The Dwarven Forge dungeons looked great though.

I think I was standing behind your group on your second or third try Sunday because I remember somebody saying just that after the cleric opened the door and got polymorphed into a chicken by the sorceress.

In our group the rogue died because of the dinosaur and then I killed the goblin rider with a crit, unfortunately the next turn the dinosaur scored 2 crits on the fighter and I was beyond negative 10 on hit points. We did manage to find a sword in the freezing chamber with an ice elemental.

Heh! Cool that some of you made it over to the event. I was pretty stoked that one of my players one a sword. I was hooting and hollering, which was pretty tough since I was already close to being completely hoarse from all of the previous hooting and hollering I had been doing for 4 days prior to that one. ;)

I think that was Steve running that one. He then hit my rogue with Tasha's Laughter, taking me out of that encounter.

On the bright side, it meant you got to miss the fight with the red dragon and efreet.

I had two more trips, only surviving the last one. Sadly, I gathered six keys, without a single winner. Still, a lot of fun, and I'll probably look at picking up Seven Swords at some point.

That was you? I played the fighter in that group. ENWorlders really are everywhere.

Gak! I must've come back from Gen Con slightly retarded. I keep writing "one" when I mean to write "won". Derf!

This is the second time I've had to edit that somehow very tricky word.
