Difficulty downloading PC Gen

Hey all

I am having some trouble downloading the newest version of PC Gen from the sourceforge website. It always tells me that it is not a valid archive and nothing is in the zip. I was wondering if there were any other sites from which I could download it, or if there was a work around on the sourceforge site.

Thanks.

What mirror are you using to donwload? I tend to use University of Minnesota or University of North Carolina, and I've never had problems with them.

I don't think it matters which mirror I use from the site itself. I just tried a few of them and it does not seem to be working. i use NetPumper, which is indicating 10K downloaded with the name and all and nothing else, with no indication that it has not finished downloading.

Perhaps the sourceforge download system and netpumper do not jive? Is there another place to get it, or a way to download it without netpumper?

Thanks again.

I have had similar problems with DAP (download accelerator plus), and I have a few suggestions...

First, the file size sounds suspiciously like you have downloaded the web page that the links are located on, and not the ZIP file or files. Try opneing the fileyou downloaded with windows notepad or similar and see if it looks suspiciously like a bunch of HTML language (a bunch of tags in brackets, etc.)

Second, try turning off netpumper's automatic browser integration features (I don't know where those are, not having used it, but I'm betting it's similar to DAP, where you right-click on the icon in the bottom-left corner and uncheck the browser integration.)

When you download a pcgen ZIP, after picking the site, you see a message at top that says something like, "Your download should begin shortly. If it does not, try http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/pcgen/pcgen557_full.zip
or choose a different mirror."

Right-click on it, and pick, "save target as:" and save it to your hard drive.

WARNING: the above link is a 15 MB file.

I hope this is what is happening: it is easily solvable, but be warned that PCGEN's size is getting larger as features are being added. Even the update change files alone are getting in the several MB range.
