Diplomacy and Taking 10

Well, the -10 penalty offsets the Take 10, leaving you with a result based solely on your Diplomacy score.

i'm not sure that this is right.

If you are rushing your diplomacy (1 rd v 10 rds), can you take 10? Can it be considered the you are distracted or even threatened, the two conditions that prevents taking 10?

In the bar example i'd have no problem with taking 10 on Diplomancy.

You left out the material I was replying to, to wit:

Rogues get Skill Mastery, by the way, which allows them to take 10 even while distracted or threatened.

What I was saying was that, with Skill Mastery (or the equivalent ability from the Changeling racial substitution level, etc.) you could rush your check and still take 10, netting a result equal to your skill.

Indeed, but WITHOUT skill mastery, or an equivolent ability, it's usually impossible to take 10 on deplomacy checks. Under the SRD, you can't take 10 if there are any distractions or threats, and personally, I consider charging orcs and the like to be both.
