Direct Damage, Spell Resistance: No

Are there any such spells in the core rules? I quick browse didn't show any such, but I might have missed it.

Basically I'm mapping out a Sorcerer (IYKWIM, AITYD) -- we've all been there. I realize I will probably need Spell Penetration but don't have the Feats to burn.

Suggestions appreciated,
Greg

There are very few spells that ignore SR. I doubt any of them are direct damage. Just stay a single class sorcerer or a prestige class that does not get in the way of your casting level and you should be fine.

If you are truly worried about it, think about perhaps gettting the Resistance Removal spell from Relics and Rituals. at the very least, an item that casts it might be nice.

Most spells lacking saves and SR are higher level. Though they don't do direct damage, you can use combinations of them to indirectly damage your foes. Opening a Gate to the Negative Energy Plane, Abyss, or Hell followed by Reverse Gravity is one such tactic.

Also casting Maze on someone and "preparing" their return to the Prime with the appropriate spells can be deadly. For instance, cast Maze on someone and while he is gone cast Anti-Magic Field on your familar and direct him to move 10' to where the target will re-appear. Then get one of the melee beasts in your party (high-level barbarian or fighter) to wait till the unfortunate target gets back to lay the smacketh down.

Alternative strategies would be to make the saves so high that they are pratically impossible to make. For instance, using Limited Wish to wish that your opponent gets a -7 on his next save followed up with a feeblemind (on an arcane spell-caster) can be particularly useful.
