Disappointed in 3.5 books

Got my 3.5 books today at my FLGS, and I have to say I am very happy with them. Reading through them, I am happy with 95% of the changes, the two standouts being the new Power Attack and Pokepaladins. Although I would have liked new art, what is there is no worse than before, and in many cases better (in the MM especially). The MM especially benefitted from the revision- I love that demons and devils are not such weenies now- the balor and pit fiend are actually a challenge for a Solar now! Hoody-hoo! I never understood why Solars were so much more powerful than the fiendish bad-asses in the first place.

On a diffierent note, the owner of my FLGS told me today that they have had the books since last Friday, but were under the impression they couldn't sell them until tomorrow. When she talked to her WotC rep today, she was told since the 1st shipment they recieved was directly from WotC, they could sell them immediately upon recepit, being a "premeire" store. Anybody know anything about this?

[hijack] You know, I've never seen a single episode of that show where the Iron Chef lost. What's up with that?

And I definitely think that Eric took Skill Focus: Diplomacy as his bonus feat.

I've seen a few, and it's always a sad thing, cos the Iron Chefs cook their hearts out in most battles.

The worst one was the Bobby Flay re-match; I was ashamed to be an American after watching Flay's petulant display of uncool. The Chefs all kick 13 different kinds of ass.

I am not entirely persuaded one way or another aboiut the Sense Motive skill for clerics. I think that it may work well enough as a cross-class skill, once you factor in several detection spells. The idea of a variant class is interesting.

Maybe an interesting option for a cleric book would be to allow the players of clerics the option to substitute one class skill with one appropriate to their deity. For example, maybe a cleric of Poseidon or Rhiannon might swap out the craft skill for ride. (This is just an example.) Or certain domains, such as Trickery, already grant extra class skills as a bonus power.

Remember, rule 0 is a DM's best friend. So, if you want to rule that Poseidon's clerics can take ride as a bonus class skill or in the place of an existing class skill, you can.

Also, I think we need to turn down the heat on this thread and the 3.5 discussion threads in general. Many people on these threads have made several interesting points. I try to respect the opinions of those who disagree with me.

I do and from what WotC told everyone, including premiere stores, was not to sell it until the 18th. I verified this by talking to the Texas sales rep at WotC. However, it wouldn't surprise me in the least that someone at WotC told them to go ahead and sell the books.

The handling of this release should be the new example for the acronym, FUBAR. ;)

I spent $30 on the PHB today.

In a month, I spend $30 on soda. I also spend $30 on zines. I buy $30 worth of smoothies.

I will not gripe about $30 for a D&D book I will use for a few hundred hours. I did gripe for a while, but that was silly.

I will now strip naked, spread out my books, and roll my body across the pages.

You know, Seinfeld made the point that there is a difference between good naked and bad naked.

Bad naked!

Bad naked!

Don't need the mental image. Time to go wash my brain out with soap again.

Wow, that just gave me a great idea for a WotC ad campaign!

Picture of a naked guy holding the revised PHB over his crotch with the caption below reading: DON'T BE CAUGHT NAKED WITHOUT 3.5! ;)

Hmmm... Maybe it would sell better if it were a woman using all three corebooks to cover with? ;)
