Hmm... cs said that the Red Dragon would be the only tavern around, until a PC eventually found some other place to start one. I don't know if he plans on changing that, though, as having all those characters in the Red Dragon could be *slightly* problematic.

Well, I'll let you all know whats going on in my head. I might be without net access for as many as 10 days, depending on what # I am on the list of dorms to fix up with a net connection. What I'm 'hoping' happens is a couple really super-awesome guys write up some simple adventures and submit them to Gary and Uriel. Then Gary and Uriel give them the OK, and one of the two takes the 1st games inherent watching duties (as I said, I'd prefer it if every game has at least 1 judge reading every post, whether that means as a reader, player, or DM).

That will take 4-6 characters out of the bar per adventure, till things are more reasonable. Right now, it's crowded, which makes sense. Then some jobs start showing up, and the adventuresome groups go off to deal with it... just like I hoped the tavern system works out.

Then people like Reaper, that are intimidated by the flurry of posts going on, can nudge their way in when things are calmer.

My anticipation is the average 1-shot adventure will take 6 weeks. Longer and shorter adventures are possible, and even real campaigns for a group of PCs are possible (though I encourage DMs that want to run extended campaigns with one group to give them a break every 6-8 weeks to relax in one of the local tavern threads, buy supplies and stuff from other players, and maybe recruit some reinforcements, and possibly let 1 or 2 pcs leave as they need to).

I am willing to open another tavern when the need is definite. Right now I'm hoping the problem drifts away long enough for me to get back and get things rolling with some more definition.

Hmm... 6 weeks? That's kinda short for a PbP, cs... I'm thinking that's wishful thinking. Arcanis has been going for two or three months, and we've got two days covered.

However, if we did adventures like those little ones that are 16 pages long in pamphlet form... one of those would probably take only 6 weeks at most, PbP-wise.

I don't work tomorrow... hmm...

Why look, I think I see a volunteer! ;)

Gary, Uriel - what kind of document format do you prefer? txt or doc?

For reading seperately, .doc. For anything to be posted on the boards, .txt. So, for an adventure, probably .doc.

Thanks for helping get this started, GW!

Bah, don't thank me yet... go ahead and do so once I get something in to you, but not a moment sooner. I'm just having ideas at the moment, and hopefully they'll turn into something.

6 weeks is assuming that the group is as active as most games are when they first start. When my LHHS game started, we had two adventures under our belt at 8 weeks (the first taking little more than 9 or 10 days, the second taking the rest of the time). That was because we were pretty active at the time. Then the game slowed down horribly much. The Psionicle, just for instance, is a game that has slow points that stretch the time an incredible amount, but when we get going we can finish something big in a couple days.

But, I definitely understand and fully respect that some adventures could take 2 months or more, 2 years even. Hell, that's the kind of game I'd rather be playing in. I'm assuming short 1 shots right now, though. If you want to disturb my assumption, do it, and impress the hell out of me.

Gary, go check your mail.

And then wait for me to send a message with the attachment. :)

Sent the attachment. Have fun. :)

Thanks, GW! We'll try to get our first adventure started as quickly as possible. :)

No problem. Hopefully you can get something useful out of that. It was kinda quickly thrown together.

I look forward to starting an adventure. :)

Edit - I meant as a character, not a DM... that was kind of a broad statement. Forgive me, it's one in the morning here, and I haven't slept for 19 hours. I think...
