This is all VERY fascinating... and informative!
Really, the time (reading this thread) has just flown by....
;)

I just am having a hard time getting ahold of it all.
Basically, it's a shared PbP adventure, with solo and group spin-off adventures?

If so, it sounds cool (I have not done Living Greyhawk).

All players start at level 1, right? I didn't catch what the deal was with higher level players/PC's.

Since this is a Living ENWorld game, I have the idea that it would be neat if we made characters that were very close to our own characters as PC's. Something a'la Kitana's In-Character Game, but as fantasy characters, using 3.5E.
It seems somewhat close to this, since you're having moderators create the dieties, etc. - maybe have our PC's take on some of the powers and proclivities of our own selves, as we are members of this gaming "community."

For example, I would make a paladin-like character (not necessarily a paladin), since my personality and posting habits are similar, and it's a strong interest of mine.
This character would be older than the average, and be knowledgable about the local history of the community.
He'd be supportive of efforts, but call people on their :):):):).

blah blah blah - that's the gist of the idea.

I like this idea. I've been a living greyhawk fan since it started. (All we old-timers are Greyhawk fans, are we not?) I'll get a living Greyhawk thread on the board when I free up some time.

I thought I'd mention that this sort of thing is being done. For instance, for Greyhawk one is:

In any case, I'd like to be a part of this, too. Probably only as a player for awhile. Good idea, Creamy.

[standing on the table, so as to make a better target in case someone wants to throw stones at me] further illustrating my old crotchedy-ness, I'd ask that comments like "Nyyaaahh! First character made!" and ":does the first post dance" are ixnayed from this thread - I'd presume this is about concentrating on getting a framework down (mentioned repeatedly by cs) so that it's not just a bunch of PC's blabbing about what's for lunch today.

hopefully you don't take offense, guys - I'm surprised to see posts like that from you 2. Unless we're helping create a world to play in, or somesuch, we're generating noise that makes it harder for interested parties to add to this large project. [/gets down off table]

As for a game question - can I use Monte Cook's Giant race? I'm interested in seeing how that would play.

edit: I'm already seeing how insanely fast the post-count is going to bloat in this situation.
Is there anything to do about this occupational hazard? (i.e. if everyone's "playing", than it will be amazingly hard to keep up for everyone)

Yeah, we probably shouldn't've done that... this game just got me so excited, that I wanted to say that I got the first post. :D

As for the giant race... I don't think cs would allow it. He's very keen on the 'core only' idea at the moment, so if it's not in the SRD, it probably won't fly.

And yes, the posting is crazy... reminds me of the earlier days of Academy of Drell...

Not now, reapersaurus. Right now, we're not even allowing ECL 0 creatures from the Monster Manual. We still don't have our process established for approving 3rd party material yet.

If you'd like to experiment with AU, however, I'd recommend checking out this thread. AU games are being formed there.

I would be honored to be a Judge, CS...and now for my new official Moniker...Iconic DMing-Addicted ENWorlder... (sigh)

As well, I had an idea for a Deity, a modified version of one from my Homebrew. I like the idea of a 'Hero's God', one that is patronized/revered by the daring, the foolish, the go-getters and dungeon-delvers of EnWorld (you know, we, the idiots that like to chase beholders and Dragons to earn our pay...rather silly when you think of it).

Grendath
"Lord of Fools, the Laughing Warrior"

Enworldian Lesser Deity
Symbol: Crossed fingers in front of a field of grey.
Home Plane: EnWorld itself.
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Portfolio:Luck, Heroism in battle,Freedom,Exploration.
Worshippers: Warriors, Adventurers, those in dire straits,Bards.
Cleric Alginments: CG,NG,CN.
Domains: Chaos,Good,Luck,Travel,War.
Favored Weapon: "Glimmerbite", Longsword.

Grendath usually appears as a middle aged man, often a human, sometimes an elf, or as often as not a gnome or halfling.
The Laughing Warrior always seems to have a gleam in his eye, not of madness or malice, but as if he were privy to some great joke that others were unaware of as of yet. Grendath is often revered by Gnomes and Halflings for his nature as a Trickster, using his brain as often as his sword arm. It is said that 'Fortune Favors the Fool', and nowhere else is it more apparent than amongst the Clergy of this wild and daring Deity, his clerics often heard uttering the above quote or 'Do you want to live forever!?!' as they jump pell-mell into danger's maw. Still, Grendath's Faith is a fast growing one, as
more and more folk are taking to the life of the Adventurer, creating Grand Stories that seem to please their laughing God to no end.

Thoughts on including him? I'm not exactly sure what Judge duties/privilages allow as far as adding deities etc...at least as of yet.
