8,000 pounds? Why so much? 200 pounds would be more than enough for what it costs IMO

that part is taken directly from the SRD write up of the immovable rod. (which costs 5000) Take it up with them. :p Also, 200 lb would not be enough, the whole idea is that a fighter in full gear could use these as a ladder or support. Immovable rods are well established, this just adds a second functionality.

A slightly unorthodox request that will hopefully ease the Adventure-PC disparity a little whilst helping out in the Rivensblight's castaway game.

GnomeWorks has continued his ardent striving to be the first PC death of ENworld. :P As such, Troi has gone and gotten himself killed or captured (which is the case is between myself, GnomeWorks, and any judge that cares to inquire) by bandits in the woods. The PCs are currently seeking to hire a tracker at the tavern that is located on the edge of the aforementioned forest.

I have no problems running an NPC tracker, but I felt it would be nice to give the option to a PC. Anyone with the track feat and wilderness lore is heading towards Orussus and the Dragon, and stops in this much more modest establishment en route. He or she overhears the current troubles of the PCs and decides to help. One more PC in an adventure. What do you all think? If this is an acceptable way to bring a PC from the Dragon to the other tavern, I'll post a little OOC notice in the Dragon thread and the first PC to post in the adventure thread gets the job. Sound good?

Hey Thomas, I'm dying for an adventure. If you can catch my character as he leaves with the news that a tracker is needed with urgency, he'll go right away, leaving lady Fant's request for later ;)

Sorry if I was unclear: This would be a bit more of an instant thing, where the PC in question would simply be at the location in question. This might involve a bit of inconsitancy if they've started chatting in the Dragon.

Well, I can just send him to go and search for his things back at the woods, after all I forgot to describe all his assorted weapons & equipment when I described him. He's a ranger after all, so it's safe to say that he had his training in the woods.

I'm runnig a new character however, so I don't know if I'm ok for what seems to be a 3rd level adventure. Still, since he is mainly a ranged character, he might be good enough for it. I just need to remind myself to stay away from melee :)

He can apologise later for not coming back right away (telling them later about the adventure he got in).

That would fix the inconsistency. Is that agreeable with you?

I'm sending you an email... ;)

Very nice magic item, there, KB. I wonder which PC will end up with it...

I think slightly non-standard items should be allowed. It's value as a weapon is inherently vague, enabling DMs to prevent it from becoming unbalancing.

CS, this thread contains an older version of the brainstorming and proposals for the Mountain Goblins that Sparky and I wrote up. Here is all the compiled and corrected information. You decided to delete the first thread to facilitate record-keeping, but maybe you changed your mind or didn't get around to it; so when you're working on proposals, ignore that first thread. "History of the Goblins," is the correct version.
