share it! maybe someone else will run it.

Mass combat is just an idea. Seems like it might take less thought than some drawn out whodonit sort of thing.

Hey guys, how do you go about retiring characters? I had a dwarven cleric (that has some XP) that I'm no longer interested in playing. Should I just delete it? Can I give his XP to another character? Some other option?

I don't think there is a policy allowing XPs to be transferred. You are allowed 3 PCs. Assuming you don't already have two other active ones, simply start a new one and let your dwarf sit.

I might have an idea for a small adventure. To whom should I send it once I'm done writing it down? One judge or all of them?

Submit to all the judges via email per the guide to living Enworld thread.

My only other request would be that your description not include spoilers, since at least two of the judges have PCs in the Inn right now. Of course if you feel the adventure would be enriched by some feedback, you can describe it to any extent you desire (and leave Nimisgod & me out of your email.)

Thanks for the response. However, I wonder how I can provide this:
The Guide to Living EN World said:
1) Who are the players: This can be a specific list or this can be a description of what kinds of characters are likely to fall in line with this adventure.
2) What is the background: Describe the setting, the people, and the motives that make this adventure.
3) What is the story: What is the story of the adventure itself? Who are the bad guys? What are they doing? How is victory achieved or defeat met?
4) What is the challenge: Specifically, what are the likely challenges the group will face? What levels of characters are expected for this adventure? What are the encounter levels of any combat that will be encountered? Will challenges be overcome through combat, stealth, skill, or diplomacy?
5) What are the rewards: What kinds of rewards are there to be found? Fame, money, magic, and experience should all be expressed here. Anything that can be a reward is important for the judges to see.
without giving some spoilers (especially 2 and 3). I guess I'll just have to leave both of you out of it.

I haven't noticed other DM proposals containing all that. In general, I am always so psyched that someone wants to DM that I don't ask many questions.

But maybe we should. For instance, in the adventure I took over from Kahuna Burger, the PCs could well have recieved a reward on the order of 13,000 gps for a party of 5 1st level PCs. That seems excessive to me. Are there guildlines suggesting appropriate rewards?

I don't see the judges saying 'no - this is a bad idea. Don't DM this.' Instead, I see the judges making constructive suggestions as to how to make the adventure better, and better fit into the milieu.

In any case, I think all the judges have PCs, and I think we'd all like to keep it that way. Sending a complete spoiler email about each adventure to each judge seems unnecessary.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

What

I tried to include all that in my recent proposal, although I noticed as soon as one of the Judges asked a question more details occured to me. :) The wealth guidelines in the DMG ought to provide some guidance, I would think.

That's pretty much what the proposal step is for, but as I remember, KB did not propose that adventure the normal way. The inn was quite full, and she was concerned that the proposal step might take too long and cause disinterest in LEW, and the judge availability was a bit low back then (back then I was no judge, so maybe she later tried to get it approved).

I'm not sure to what it has been reduced by now, and our employer might not be entirely happy with our report, of course. ;)

It would be nice if 1) could be an indication on who would be accepted and interested, so that the judges who read 1) could say "OK, I'm interested, and won't read beyond that." And after a bit spoiler space, continue with 2) and the like.
FULL spoilers certainly are not necessary, but a bit on detail on what will be faced and what the goal is (or at least, officially is) should be in there, as well as the proposed reward, to avoid situations like in Kahuna Burger's adventure (it did seem high to me back then, but I presumed that there was more to it than the wizard let on, and that the time required to get to that would reduce the reward appropriately).

Oh, and on the topic of the map, here is the attachment of what I believe to be an old unfinished version of the map.

Sparky might want to go on an ongoing "solo" adventure with the goal of turning a gang of bandits, the whoresons, into a band of sellswords and warriors.
I'm not sure if I'm up to DM that adventure, so if there are any volunteers for that, I'll send them the important informations for that adventure. :)
