I believe in the very first LEW threads (actually the 1st thread itself) I stated that I don't think the leadership feat was a good idea. I still believe that. Personally I think it detracts from the "player centric" concept of the game.

At the very least, I don't think cohorts are a good idea. If you allow the feat, people will eventually try to bring their dozens or hundreds of followers with them. I think the game is cool as a "player centric" idea -- after all, in the tavern we're all just a few adventurers looking to do our thing.

If you want someone to run your shop, pay a salary and maybe you can run a shop. If you want to run your shop yourself with someone's help, that might fall into the retirement category.

My understanding was that a retired character is no longer usable by it's creator, only by DMs, if they so desire, and even then only if the creator allows such use of his/her character. And also, I know that players like Velmont want to open their own shops but still gain levels (he made the Merchant PrC, unless I'm mistaken, for just this purpose)

Yeah, that's what I was alluding to, Rae. If he wants to open a shop, that can be his schtick, but it's easy to pay the few silver to a hired hand. Alternately, retire your character and open a shop. (By the time you do this, you'll have a lot of experience, probably, will have been here a long time, and there can be some sort of status between GM and Player where you can have a character be an NPC and run a shop IC.)

I don't think it's really feasible to run a shop by yourself and adventure at the same time.

Question about Craft Points: Well, not about Craft Points, but Crafting.

The description mentions that masterwork weapons and armor requires a feat. First of all, this is different from RAW. I'm fine with that, though. What confuses me is ... why is no Craft Masterwork Weapons and Armor listed?

Rae is right, Rinaldo will open his shop and continue adventuring. He will be a trader, not a stall merchant, which is meant that he will take advantage he is on the move to buy items he wouldn't be able to buy at Orussus and sell themp back at his shop. But I'll need some NPC (followers?) to handle the shop while he is gone. That's why I was interested in the Leadership feat. I even wanted to see my cohort staying at the shop.

But paying a salary looks fine too. It is just I want to have a clear idea of how I will open my shop and run it. If Leadership is banned from LEW because it could be abused, no problem with me (hey, I'll be able to take another feat instead...) but at the same time, I want to know how we will handle NPCs that are working for a player.

I "think" I was supposed to fix something in there. I thought I did. I'll try to fix it when I can.

I think the feat you're looking for is Craft Masterwork Item. We combined several feats (Melee Weapon, Ranged Weapon, Armor, Alchemical Item) into one because it would be rather unfair to force a character to sacrifice more than one feat to craft them. It seems there are some instances where the old names are still used.

Re Crafting. The Craft points stuff in the heap o approved content post says that you spend the gold, xp, and craft points and next day you get the item. does that mean that you can only create 1 item per day?

I have a character who loves scribing backup scrolls, we have only 1 down day to sit down and finish any items we were working on. So I want to know if I can create only the one scroll or X scrolls (depending on funds).
