(Discussion) General Part VII

I'd really like to talk about my Dance of Souls adventure at this point, but that would include spoilers for the players. I think I can savely say, though, that Garum, a worg member of Lathirn's city watch, was not initially part of the outline, and yet could prove important. (Not sure how many people are reading along on the adventure)

I think my DT folks (OK well the one who has met the character so far) would be very surprised to find out that the character 'Esperanza' was only invented as the result of a high roll on a Perform check, especially considering how there's been over one hundred posts provoked by Esperanza in three days, and its still not done with that part :)

Heh.:D

Well, if you're unsure, you could always send me a first draft of an adventure outline, and we could try to see if we can work from there.

Well I'm quite sure that you and I, or even I myself *could* get all the information required in the 5 categories :). It isn't that I couldn't produce it. Its just that once I was done, I would no longer desire to run the adventure unless I felt like I could completely ignore everything that I had written on a whim ;)

And its not meant to be a condemnation of any sort of the system or anybody here, its just that I'm not the right person to GM that way (its why I never run published modules, for instance).

That's not what I meant to imply.;)

I think, if you have the background, you have a few things that are relatively certain. You propably know who the bad guy (if any) is. You might know where he should be (though you don't know how the players want to get there, of if he stays there yet). The exact nature and stats of the bad guy might change between approval of the adventure, and the heroes finally meeting the bad guy. The where gives a general idea what other challenges might come, but those, too, might change. That sort of thing?

I figure that I've got some interesting background content out there for approval (Though the freefolk discussion died, I'll have to go over that again and try to revive it/find out what's wrong or if it will ever pass), and once I get a better feel for PbP, I'll probably run something involving some of the content I've submitted as a way to introduce it to the world.

Well, I often don't know for sure who's going to be the bad guy. What I do have is the motive. Because I'm not terribly creative at the moment, I'll use an example from Destiny's Tears Prologue and hide it from my players in an SBLOCK. Plus none of them reads this thread anyway, I think:

[SBLOCK]
Hahaha! I've removed the spoiler that gave away the entire plot because Knight Otu already read it. Now you cheating Destiny's Tears players will NEVER find out!!!![/SBLOCK]

Yeah, that's a good idea. Manzanita does that with Monemvassia, I've added a few Sairundani bits into Dance of Souls, and I do have some ideas about an adventure in Sairundan itself. By the way, Bront, did you read the post on Sairundan in the "heap" thread?

You see why that wouldn't work very well with the LEW guidelines though, right? Anyways, now that you read it, I've replaced the SBLOCK spoiler with a taunting message about what once was there :D
