as I was checking the adventure there seemed to be a consensus that Irene wasn't coming back. I wasn't sure what to make of it.

No consensus at all. Two of her companions (including my character) are waiting in Monemvassia in the hope of getting word from her. If you have insight based on reading Irene's thread (M2.5), please don't share it with us. For all we know, she may be dead already, although given Venus' latest post here I (Orsal, not Nurlan) doubt it.

Since character posts rarely get edited in mid-adventure, a character that has never been edited is probably one whose first adventure hasn't finished. It doesn't suggest to me that the character has never been used.

Also, a character can have an extended hiatus between adventures. If a character (or, worse, a DM) disappears from view mid-adventure, it's a good sign that the player has given up. If the adventure gets finished and the character doesn't immediately come back to the Red Dragon Inn, it may just be that the player isn't ready to start another game right then. I certainly hope Guilt Puppy hasn't decided to abandon Sturm.

My character, Jo Guilan, is somewhere between extended hiatus status and retirement. I haven't definitively given up on him, but he's likely never to be activated again, mainly because in-character reasons make it difficult for him to meet an adventure hook.

In character, we fear the worst for Irene. There isn't a consensus as to whether the worst is that she's dead or changed sides.

Out of character, we know Manzanita created a seperate thread for Irene when she got seperated from the others, as she is wont to do.

Edit: My character, Tor, is also not coming back to the RDI right away. I've got two other characters in adventures right now, so I'm giving him a minor break. His in character reasons are that he is the second PC looking for Irene, and also that he intends to visit familly before jumping back to the Inn.

If you'd like to get him involved out of character, I'd be happy to craft an adventure specifically designed to drag him back kicking and screaming. Just let me know his reasons and current status. ;)

Some updates that might help:

Code:
#035 -check up on-hasn’t been in use for six months
Thomas Hobbes(Fant of Lionel)

I know we haven't seen Hobbes for a while, but I hope we haven't seen the last of Lady Fant!

#041 -check up on-probably retire
Erekose13(ao’Thuir of the goast tribe)

ao'Thuir is currently in Curse of House Thimbral

#048 -retire player AWOL since 1/14/05
GPEKO(Gath Stonefist)

Additional red flag - AWOL in the middle of an adventure.

#098 -retire all three never used/player AWOL since ½0/05
DM-Rocco(Calamar the Dark)(Grogg son of Grogg)(Robillard the Silvered tongued "Sparrow")
grumblegrumble

At least one of these WAS used; unfortunately, the player went AWOL when that character was in the middle of combat!

#113 -check up on probably retire
msd(Eruin de Terith)

Also AWOL in the middle of combat at the same time as DM-Rocco

#136 -retire player AWOL since 12/25/04
Zweischneid(Morulas Blackleaf)
#140 -retire never used/player AWOL since 12/25/04
Zweischneid(Razir "The Whisper" of Orussus)

Player AWOL about the same time as GPEKO, and with Razir in an adventure.

#169 -check up on
Spycat(Keth)

Keth is active in Curse of House Thimbral

I think I was the last DM for Fant and Morulas. Lady Fant left gracefully, at the end of Burning Tower, saying she could not join the group heading to Faerie Woods. I suspect she will return someday.

Morulas was in the middle of an adventure, just as Razir was. Disapeared before reaching the Faerie Woods.

By the way, the thing I like best about living EN World is that characters in games that die can be rescued. I hate getting attached to characters and then having the game they were created for die. When this happened to Ironwolf, though, it just meant he had to head back to the inn. Much more gracefull than the fate of poor Anvuss in the regular play by post section. Of course, Anvuss, as a warforged, couldn't be generated in LEW...

I read into the end of the regular adventure alittle to much.

Thanks for all the feed back, it has shrunk the list a bit, Ill be going into work soon, so I'll organize it better tonight or tommorrow.

At about the same time, her player, Thomas Hobbes, made his last post to a thread he was DMing, then vanished without warning. Abandoning an adventure in progress, especially without notice, is generally a sign that a player has given up on LEW. An unannounced week-long absence may be a sign of unexpected modem troubles; an unannounced 6-month absence is likely to be permanent.

Other DMs who have abandoned adventures in progress without warning are Mithreander, Janos Aduron, Dexerion, and GPEKO. I would consider any character belonging to any of them to be abandoned.

Hey Knight Otu, Beamer and Banion must be doing a really good job of hiding if they managed to convince LogicsFate that they were retired. That's got to be at least a +2 circumstance bonus. :)

Funny story accually, turns out my wisdom is very low, spot listen all that is in the negitives

Who are Beamer and Banion, please point them out so I can rectify the situation.

Also I have attempted to make the list more eisly read

*EDIT* Nevermind already got them, I did't think they were retired but they didn't look like they had had much use, so I put up a check on it tag

Bront is going to start a new Tavern thread, and I thought I'd make a suggestion. Kahuna Burger had pointed out that PCs occationally get insufferable, yet PC vs. PC combat is dicey and should be avoided. Thus I think the tavern could use a good bouncer. Since I don't think any active PCs are going to take that job anytime soon, I thought we should get one. Instead of making one up, I thought we should use an inactive PC, Gath.

If GPECKO returns, he could simply have Gath take up active adventuring again. It's unlikely he would be killed, but if he were, that's just one of the risks of disapearing when your PC is in an adventure. Gath is a friendly, easy-going dumb halforc, who would takes orders well from a nice boss like Joe. He's 3rd level, powerful enough to handle most tavern patrons. He's got good non-lethal hand to hand combat skills. He seems like a natural. And one more way to integrate LEW a little more.

Just a idea though. Perhaps other would think it problematic.
