its only porn if you wack off to it. if It gets you aroused, then thats just good art. good art makes you feel something.

As for the art, me and my gaming group personally think the artwork look more "japanese-anime" in a lot of them rather than "medievial but not medieval". I can give some examples of this if you'd like, from some of the books I've seen it in.

I've seen this in a few images, but it's not a very prevalent style in the art.

Razz - a while ago there was a thread about anime in D&D art and I asked there for examples and no one could come up with any. I'm curious too what you think looks anime'ish.

If there were images in D&D that were truly done in "Anime" style I'd probably be among the first to decry it. But I honestly haven't seen anything in D&D that I'd call "anime".

And yes Ron should stick to Sepia, I've always liked his Sepia pieces but the coloring process does them no good at all.

Aside from the longer spikes on the pauldrons the short pyramid shaped stud-spikes you see on this set of armor are far more reasonable and generally how I envision armor spikes. They remind me of a picture I saw of a back-and-breast plate with short spikes on the back worn by a Sunderbaahn woodcutter to keep tigers off his back.

I was thinking the same thing. They are not radically different as they still have the same drawings style, but the just looks nicer without color.

That picture is by Arnie Swekel...his paintings are much better than his line work in the core books IMHO.
