Oh, and I forgot assassins. And druids. And psions. And wizards. (The latter 3 for the staff/quarterstaff confusion).

The weapon/implement thing isn't that hard, guys. If the power in question has the implement keyword, you don't apply your proficiency bonus. If it does, you do. That's all. Also, this is why weapons that can be used as weapons and implements are so nice. No switching around. Like my bard's songblade -- it can be used as an implement for bard powers.

Basic attacks, unless they are replaced with a power (where a power says "You may use this power in place of a basic attack.") don't use an implement.

I wasn't saying they were hard. I was just pointing out how they come up a lot. Its great when you can find a class with both, and they allow you to use your weapon on a NAD attack (such as swordmages and artificers).

(And I forgot artificers).

Yeah, stupid necessity.....although I still always think about that scene except replacing the skinny kid with the fighter and the chubby kid with the rogue uses Piercing Strike on the ogre NADs....

Well, it isn't exactly the way the rules say it should work, but I think it is a reasonable request. If you want to make a change go for it.
