Discussion of Scotley's upcoming 4e Swashbuckler Game

What about the archers on the balcony and the one on the chandelier? Could he shoot at them from S8?

No, the front (lower on the map) portion of the room goes up to a high ceiling, while you are under the lower part. Of course that also means they can't shoot at you. :-)

Here's the map with a crude side view of the ceiling line to hopefully make things clearer.

Scott, with your permission after this fight I'd like to take a different Invoker power for the multiclass feat Acolyte of Divine Secrets. Not sure which one yet - there are three that look pretty good to me.

Sure, that was part of the point of this fight, to give you a chance to refine the characters a little. I would prefer no one add new powers mid-fight. ;)

I'd like to invite Scotley and anyone else interested to my new burgeoning "Isle of Dread" 4E conversion game (see my sig). I don't know that I'm going to allow 10 PCs (!) but I'm leaning towards MORE than normal if they are players who post often.

Another suggestion: Post the monster's defenses after that defense has been hit (and maybe hitpoints after bloodied). Again to free up retcons.

I gave the AC and I forgot to give the will and reflex that were hit. Will do that with the next post. You guys can also do some monster knowledge checks as well. I don't normally give out the hp totals, but considering the complexity brought about by the large group size I think I'll start once a foe is bloodied. Thanks!

They're tougher. Monsters don't get PC levels, they have a seperate set of advancements more based on their roles as opposed to PC's. They don't gain new utility powers, or daily powers ,etc based on level.

4e upped everyone's hp.

Do these orcs have character levels, or are orcs just tougher in 4E?

Yeah, these Orcs are generally level four foes. It takes four of the minions to equal one regular so the brutes are weaker than the characters and the rest about equal. The brutes are really only weaker in that any wound kills them, but their attacks and defenses are similar to the others.

I'll definitely check it out, Thanks!

Thanks...just trying to get a feel for how everything works.
