It doesn't need to be
Great. Until then you're going to need to pay for using people's intellectual property.

The meme is a laughable one. "Going to rethink my life."

I mean no actually, that isnt how it works in reality. Most of us DO have to have a job, so why not have it be our 'dream job'.

Yes, its still a job. Thats how the world works.
Step 1: Steal intellectual property.

Step 2: ???

Step 3: Society no longer requires labor!

Step 3: Society no longer requires labor!

Honestly I just cannot even fathom the thought process at this point in my life.

Today is Canada day, so I ran around and did a bunch of stuff.

This required:

Gas. Labour extracts this, processes this, transports this, and I $$ pay for it.
Car. Labour extracts the materials, processes those materials, fabricates it, and puts it together. ALL those people are getting paid, and I then $$$$$ pay for the car. Oh, and I maintain it with more $$.

Landscaping material. Same story. Extraction, processing, transport, storage! All for the privlage of me $$$$ paying for it.

Home to landscape! $$$$$$$$$$$$

And where does all that $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ come from?

My labour.

If people want to believe in some hilarous utiopia where somehow....people are just hauling rocks for fun? Extracting minerals/ore for fun? Nobody gets paid? Nobody works?

idealism/optimism is for kids huh?

And Star Trek, yes.

Great. Until then you're going to need to pay for using people's intellectual property.
Then we're going to be waiting a LONG time, because people's resistance to automation is the main thibg holding a post-scarcity society back

How about instead we go on replacing jobs with machines until society finally admits that human labor is obsolete and stops demanding it
