That's clever, but blatant abuse of the spell's design. I would probably ad hoc that you wouldn't be able to float with more that you maximum weight limit; when you exceeded that, you'd plummet. Why not just design a custom spell called mass feather fall?MerakSpielman said:Think of it this way:
I have three tons of supplies I need to deliver to a castle at the bottom of a steep cliff. The nearest passage down is a days jouney south.
Can I grab a local animal, chain a bunch of supplies to it, cast fly on it, toss it over the edge, dispel the fly, and shove the crates of supplies after it? And expect the whole bundle to float gently down a few thousand feet undamaged?

You're forgetting that the feather fall-like property of fly only lasts for 1d6 rounds as stated by the spell description. So at most you'd only float down 360'. You plummet any remaining distance.ForceUser said:That's clever, but blatant abuse of the spell's design. MerakSpielman said:Ok, now for the next question. Somebody has Dispelled your Fly spell. You are sinking gradually to the ground. Something occurs that increases your weight - perhaps a companion fell past you and you grabbed them.
There is nothing in the spell description indicating a weight limit.

Just curious.....
