Mechanical distinctions are pretty much metagaming anyway. This is a quesion for your DM relating to his cosmology.

Since your character is a thief, I assume the whole Prophet of Whoever thing is a scam, and that you've made a pretty penny from it.

Chalk the whole thing up and walk away with your winnings. If you're in jail, well, I'd consider an escape attempt, because that stands a better chance of succeeding than proving pharoah is a phony. Besides, even if you could prove he's not a god, you'd probably end up dead anyway. Strangled or stabbed to death in your sleep by a devoted pharoah worshipper.

Get the hell outta Dodge, sister.

Oh, and by the way, how large is the chance that this is incorrect, and that he really is a god? If he really is a god, you cannot prove he isn't. And if you try, smackdown will commense... :)

BBEG (giggling): Oh, you'll have to do better than that!

[The bullet wounds miraculously disappear.]

Den (as narrator): I could see why they made this guy their leader.

I'm in an Egyptian themed campaign where the pharaoh is descended from the gods to serve man. He is a man himself, although he has convinced the people that he is their god (he's lost touch with his true purpose). Through some wild machinations, my character (a CG Thief) has become a prophet of Bahamut (think Final Fantasy Bahamut, not WOTC's version) and is spreading the word to the kingdom. However, she will pay a visit to the gallows for being a heretic if she cannot prove that the pharaoh is not a god.

How do you prove that a man who claims that he is a god, is just a man?
How do you know the pharoah is not a god? Being human doesn't naturally disqualify a person from also being a god.

There are plenty of living gods and hypostatic divinities in Near Eastern tradition. You might want to reconsider your character's certainty.

I'd also say kill him. Or, better, make it look like an accident. Surely no deity would be struck by a stone and die.

For more ideas, we need more details. What does he claims his powers are? Prove that he doesn't in fact, have those powers (and hope they're not something that a mortal could achieve with magic but that isn't widely known).

Omniscient? Surprise him.
Omnipotent? Show something he can't do.
Immortal? Well, that's easy.

I agree. Ask him a question he can't answer - prove he's not omniscient.

"They think he's their god. They want to help him. By freeing him from his mortal shell." ;)

It does, in D&D terms at least.

And of course, there's me .

No, wait, I'm an "Oh god!"

"You have to be a GOD to smile after that hit!"
