Sorry, I was asking this for a friend and then saw he already asked on his own.

:o Aside from Birthright (which is too tied to the setting mechanics), is there a set of rules out there for running kingdoms? Taxes, armies, politics - all that sort of bookeeping (sort of like a Civilization game running behind the real campaign).

I don't think the Stronghold Builder's Guide has what I'm looking for. I've heard of Dynasties and Demagugues but haven't picked up a copy yet. What else is out there?

3.5 prefered, but 3.0 would probably work too. Any suggestions are much appreciated. :)

Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. It is an excellent book that covers manors, cities, and kingdoms. It's won like 3 Ennies and is definitely the single best support book I've encountered. It should work seamlessly with any d20 fantasy RPG and the only hitch for non-d20 RPGs would be currency conversion.

Check the front page, Expeditious Retreat Press is having a Christmas in July sale. I think there are 3 or 4 entries for it in the Reviews section.

DnD Companion rules, and also the DnD Rules Cyclopedia. Power of Faerun also has kingdom running rules, but is more concerned with events than economics.
