Divine Sacrifice is it balanced? (DotF)

BTW: Seems pretty straight-forward to me that it effects both, not just one.
I said so, or?
But as I understand it he can`t sacrifice hit points that his mount does the damage. The mount has to sacrifce hitpoints to get the effect.
The Paladin should be able to hit within 3 rounds and once he has that successful attack, the spell is over. Making it last for 20 rounds would have the same effect
err?
Does the spell stop? I don`t think so.
Round1 cast spell
round2 sacrifice hitpoints - miss
round3 hit + xd6
round4 sacrifice hitpoints - hit + xd6
....

@multiple attack of the mount: discard that that was just plain dumb. Just forgett it.

I see it working well with Divine Might and a nice magic bow...

... maybe using 3E Holy Sword...

Especially if you can arrange something like Regenerate Critical Wounds to partially counteract the sacrifice.

I was interpreting the spell to mean that you sacrificed up to 10 HP's at the time of casting. If that were the case, it wouldn't really matter how long it lasted, as long as you had enough rounds to make one hit.

Being able to sacrifice HP's at will after the spell is cast does give more benefit to a longer duration... but how many rounds do you think you could normally afford to use it? I just have something against inflicting damage upon myself. In high school biology class when we checked our blood type I had the hardest time pricking my own finger.

Given that it says "You may make as many sacrifices as the spell duration allows", I don't think it's the case.
