Divine Vigor good ?

I'm currently playing a 7th level Sorceror (with high charisma of course).

Do you think it's worth it to take a single level of cleric and the feat Divine Vigor ? Turning attempts are not level based, only charisma based (if used to power a divine feat).

Hell, no! A sorcerer's spell progression is slow enough as it is. You do not want to slow it down further (9th lvl character getting 4th lvl spells) just so you can get some extra hp. Just do what sorcerers are supposed to and don't get hit :)

Regarding time to use this feat: Actions are the most precious commodity in D&D. During combat, the limitation on the number of actions you may take is one of the biggest limitations around. However, the effects fo this feat last *minutes* and may be used *multiple times* in a day. There should be plenty of opportunities to use this feat before entering a dangerous area.

Regarding picking up this feat with a sorcerer via grabbing a level of cleric (power gaming): Maybe. I wouldn't do it at low levels, but I might consider it at medium or high levels, especially if your con is low. Sorcerers and wizards tend to need speed less than any other class, but the extra hit points can make a huge difference in life or death situations. The The questions you must ask is: Is the loss of 1 BAB and 1 level of sorcerer spellcasting worth the domain abilities, low level spells and access to this feat? Also, ask yourself if you can afford to pick up this feat. I have a lot of trouble deciding on feats for my sorcerers because there are too many useful feats and too few feat slots avialable to a sorcerer. You may be better off with false life, a 2nd level spell.

If I'm using Divine Vigor (and therefor have temp hp) and I cast Shield Other, the damage I take from the SO comes off the temp hp first, right?

Hmmmm. I think my cleric has a new trick...

PS
Our cleric thought the same. He felt pretty save behind his temporary hitpoints... the wizard cast False Life... shield other was on....

Two fireballs, two failed saves, one dead cleric. The wizard survived though :D

I do have false life, but wouldn't the two combined (false life and Divine Vigor) give a total of 31 to 40 temp hp's (36 to 50 with empowered FL) for a 10th level sorc/ 1st level cleric ?

I'm taking the even riskier route of putting SO on the paladin. I normally don't like to put SO on someone with more hp than I have, but we only have one serious melee combatant. I really need him to keep slaughtering the bad guys, and I'd prefer not to run up and touch him. :)

to multi-class or not

Cleric is the uber power multi class choice!

Planning: extend meta feat!
War: martial weapon & weapon focus!
Luck: reroll 1/day!

I do not have my books w/me, but I believe there is another domain that grants a meta feat, as well as other domain abilities not dependent on your level as a Cleric.

IMO - the cleric is way front loaded - the domain abilities are so sweet for cherry pick - and the addition of feats to use turn undead in other ways (that are NOT dependent on cleric class level) makes it even more imbalanced. The perfect class to abuse this is the sorcerer and bard - both have the high charisma to take advantage of these turning feats. Then again, thats just me...

According to the 3E FAQ, at least, temporary hit points from multiple sources don't stack.

At least paladins have good saves. :D

Thanx. I'll not be doing this again. :o

Kind regards
Is this a local policy? Retyping small portions of a book (such as a feat or spell) for discussion purposes is well within the law. Retyping portions of a book just so that someone who doesn't have the information can get it would be wrong.
