D&D General DIY xps foam terrain. Videos? Pics? Advice?

I tried a few other free ones, but Wix was extremely simple. Nearly all of the setup was click-based and required finding the right template then editing it.

As an aside, I had to purchase some foam for my recent projects and was duly impressed by how expensive a 4' x 8' sheet of two-inch foam is! I know you get a lot of terrain out of that foam, but I still had a bit of sticker shock. I knew that construction materials had jumped in price a lot due to the pandemic, but still...

In another too little too late suggestion category - I base all of my foam projects on floor tiles. I use really cheap linoleum 12" x 12" self-adhesive tiles. I then glue (to the self-adhesive side) a layer of cheap black felt to the bottom. I have not had any problems with warping when I am painting (knock on foam). The tile is also a little lighter than then mdf, which can also warp in my experience.

I'm going to use your linoleum tile trick, except with cardboard instead of foam. It looks like the linoleum costs only 70 cents a square at Lowes.

I need to make some quick ocean/coastal tiles by Sunday.

I have made some progress on the Keep-on-the-Marshes - though the roof keeps causing me troubles and I have had to rip it apart twice to try to tweak it. Luckily, I have not tried to permanently attach it yet.

I am familiar with DM's Craft and Black Magic Craft, of the others which do you recommend most?

@pogre thanks for the tip. Using Cheap adhesive linoleum tiles really simplifies everything.

Glad the tiles are working better for you! I have used them for years on my projects - everything from Hirst Arts to river tiles. I have several pieces over 10 years old and the tile has held up well. It is possible to warp it - a couple of my sewer pieces warped after I stacked them on a shelf unsupported, but that is the rare exception and it was mostly my fault.
