Do you prefer the term DM or GM?

I use DM even when referring to other games. I didn't here about GM until years later, and DM just stuck. No one has ever said anything about it.

DM for D&D, GM for other games.

It may not be the best, but D&D was the first RPG, the one I grew up interested in, and gets that special nod of respect :)

I like the sound of GM. Back in my early gaming days, it seemed like all other products used the term GM, while only D&D produncts used the term DM. Somewhere along the way, it turned out I just liked the sound of the more generic term of GM for the person filling in the role of judge/referee/official rules arbiter, etc.

Since DM is trade marked by WoTC and GM is not, I prefer saying Game Master.

(This of course is not mentioning the fact that very first RPG I played was Heroes Unlimited)

I chose neither for two reasons:

1.) The only game you can Dungeon Master is Dungeons & Dragons, and I get annoyed when I hear people say they're "DMing" any other game, especially if it's Sci Fi like Star Wars.

2.) I prefer Host, because both of the "* Master" titles imply inherent superiority (and I'm above putting myself above others, does that even make sense?) and "host" is a more accurate description of what I'm doing.
