DM Rewards

We see this, almost everyone who goes to encounters also goes to the gamedays. However, Gamedays are a larger draw for us.

It was the opposite for us. We had 8 for our first Game Day, but 24 for Encounters. Of the 8, 7 of them go to Encounters, and 7 of them frequently attend the normal Saturday D&D that I run (6 of them attend both). So, we didn't have anyone new.

Oh Wizards. Oh me, oh my. My reward arrived today. At least, I can only assume it was supposed to be my reward. You see...it was mailed to my wife, who, while an occasional DM, has never reported ANY DM activity - not public, not private. None. Nada. Zilch.

It came in a big ole' WotC emblazoned manilla envelope. Inside of it, I found the letter we are now familiar with, stating how contained in this envelope is an exclusive Castle Ravenloft card, the Gray Hag! Except...what's this? That's no Gray Hag card. Oh no! It's...the 3rd copy of the RPGA "mailing address up to date" reward 4e rewrite of the Tomb of Horrors to be mailed to this house! I, and my wife, each received a copy of this back when it was mailed out in earlier in the summer. I opened one to read, and the other remains in shrink wrap in the garage. But now...I have...three of them. Awesome?

But where's my Gray Hag?

And...is it any wonder that Wizards is no longer supporting private games? It must get expensive when you can't even figure out who to mail something too, or indeed, even what to mail them in the first place. Oy.

Good news is this baby is going for $40.00+ on Ebay. You only need one ;-).

I'd feel a lot worse about this if I'd ever managed to sign up for the DM Rewards program.

It wasn't for lack of trying. Unfortunately, no matter what carefully-laid-out-instructions-from-customer-support I followed, the site often redirected me into signing up for the Magic players' rewards thingie, and invariably failed to sign me up for the DM Rewards program.

I finally got sick of it, and bought the module off eBay for $40. Just like I did for The Village of Hommlet.

I honestly hate saying this, but the winner of the contest, "Win one-million dollars if you intentionally create the worst website ever!" couldn't design a worse website.

I'll just add, as further illustration of the RPGA site issues:
It is possible, though unlikely, that I have actually managed to sign up for the now-defunct DM Rewards program. It's really hard to tell one way or the other. I am only certain that I have not been sent a copy of "Tomb of Horrors."

My son and I got our letters saying that the "Sea Hag" card was enclosed. But no card, just another copy of _Tomb of Horrors_. That makes 4 copies between us. :-(

I find it odd that they'd have all those extra copies of _Tomb of Horrors_ lying around. They knew how many people they were sending the DM Reward to, so they should have just printed that many copies. It's like they printed twice the number they needed, as so many of us are getting a second copy.
