DM Veneration

I'm having the most peculiar experience; I'm apparently being venerated.
My players enjoy my adventures, and they compliment me on my story-telling, my creativity and my rat-bastardness. This is a reasonable thing to do.
One of my players is starting to DM another group, and he has asked me for advice. This is also a reasonable thing to do.
One of my other players has told his non-RP friends about my skills as an adventure craftsman. This is starting to be a little strange.
Another of my players (granted, she isn't exactly the most stable individual) has begun writing fan-fiction based on my campaign and my player's characters. Now I'm becoming frightened.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it even a problem?

The greatest treat a DM could get is seeing his players run his homebrew world as a DM for a completely different group. There's a mixed urge to let him run free with it and see where he goes, or pester him constantly for updates and give advice.

Sounds like the great DM in the sky is giving you a +2 circumstance bonus to your next "gitt'n some" roll.

I say they're up to something. Probably about to ask for the introduction of some ubermunchkin PrC.

My favorite way to venerate an ex-DM is to ask them to play in my campaign even as a short lived NPC and then ask them for advice when it's over.

Here is how I have been venerated:

1) I was asked to guest DM a player's other campaign to show their GM how it's done.

2) I have been asked to write articles on different aspects of GMing by players.

3) I once had a female player offer to perform favors for me as a thank you. (Though like your female player I wouldn't exactly call this one stable)

greatest compliment ever paid to me so far is the sheer fact that one of my guys said "I can only play from 4pm to 8pm" then the weeks went on and then it became 3-9, then 2-11pm that he stayed. To me it shows that he enjoys what he is doing and wants more of it...more and more and more...that and i am called the reincarnation of all the evil DM's that we played in before i came to pass and was told i am starting to get eviler....::taps fingers together:: excellent...

I recently got voted best DM ever by my old group (I was their first DM. after me, they got 3 others) And the fact that my current group constantly tries to DM on weekdays even though their parents would never allow that is also a pretty good compliment, I would think.

And, and that's the best sign a DM could get, they rspect me and my deciscions, even when they are totally unfair (doesn't happen much)

An Ex-Dm sat in as a cameo npc. After the game I was told "I expected the game to be at this level (pointing low) but was pleasantly surprised that the players were at this level (medium) and your DM skills are here (points a good half a foot above the medium mark).

Another indication was....
I hand out little notes during the game. Over the course of the game so far, there has been 3 major handouts in the form of handwrritten little booklets that I named books that they found.

One of the players has been pouring through the 3 books for info and is compiling their own book with the combined knowledge of said booklets.

I don't think it's a problem. One of my players (an aspiring comic book artist and currently a graphic designer) is working on a comic that includes elements of the campaign and everyone's PCs.

And they *still* (after 10 years of gaming) ask to play on a weekly basis instead of our normal biweekly times. I have steadfastly refused - too much of a good thing, don't ya know... ;)

And those diamond shoes are pinching, too.
