[DMG] Fireball Wand Damage? Huh?

The blessed book is a fantastic item for 9,500 gp. Just be sure to work out with your DM what "freely accepts" means before play begins...

Damn, that is tempting but it would eat up half the gold that I will probably be using for spells/scrolls/potions.

John's seeing it correctly, it's a typo in the DMG. The DMG lists supposedly 3rd-caster level wands of fireball and lightning bolt for 11,250 gp. It's obviously a mistake, but I don't think it was ever even errata'd.

Ah, thanks. I thought it was wrong but I couldn't find a correction anywhere. I'll have to confer with the DM just to make sure he is aware of it.

Are there any items that I am missing from the splatbooks that I can use? I am limited to just the Core Books and the splats right now (no FR, darn). Even mundane stuff. I'm also still trying to figure out a look for this guy. I gotta figure there aren't many Dwarf Wizards around.

Depends on your definition of "splatbook". No, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm referring to the Psionics Handbook. Not quite splatbook, not quite core...

There's a few nice, cheap items there low-level people of any class should consider. My favorites:

Boots of Skating (2k gp), for those dwarves who don't like to Spring and/or Stride. (It's +15' on a level surface, +0 uphill, +30' downhill) Since boots of S&S cost 6k now, it's a good alternative at low level.

Third Eye: Aware (4k gp): +10 to Spot and Search checks, goes on the forehead

Third Eye: Concentrate (2k gp): +10 to Concentration checks

That last one is especially nice at low level. With a +10 bonus, you can cast defensively without losing any spells. By the time you don't need the +10 any more you'll want a far better item for that slot (like the Third Eye: Open that casts Clairvoyance at will)
