Sigil does not Planescape make.

And turning Sigil into Union lite... meh.

Good thing that you aren't playing 4e then. Let us who do be happy ;)

I know I am. I just got City of Brass for Xmas, but having a 4e version can't hurt (assuming it's what is in DMG3)

Sigil does not Planescape make.
Maybe not the entire setting. But I know many a Planescape fan (including myself) who would be more then happy just running Planescape games in Sigil and not bother with the rest of the cosmology.

The only thing really needed from the rest is the people, items, etc. that populate Sigil. Which... Actually now that I think about it, with 4e's exception based design could be really fun. The developers could very easily develop a very diverse cast of NPCs in DMG 2 for Sigil, even without say a representative of it in a PHB/MM. Though I imagine now that we know this the MM will probably have its fair share of beings that likely populate Sigil.

I was hoping they'd have more extensive overhaul on minions.
So much for:
WotC_Logan said:
...I talked to James about it and he says he'll make it happen for the first MM after we have robust aquatic rules (DMG2 maybe? No promises!)
(from THIS post)
I realize that Mouse already posted this in response to you, Aeolius, but I thinking it bears repeating to the community:
...I strongly doubt that the Amazon blurb is comprehensive.
It completely rings hollow with me when someone complains about what won't be in a future book, based upon a two-sentence long product blurb.

Rechan: "New monster frameworks" could include revised minion rules.

Ah very cool. And I think Sigil is a great idea.

I vote for Brass in the DMG3.

Me too. I really didn't like Union at all. I'm looking forward to combining the many different versions of the City of Brass I have into one ultimate epic-level city!

Cheers

I'm curious if DMG3 wont feature a home city but a home nation... perhaps a more geopolitical framework for an entire nation with factions within it, major political leaders of various cities, and some information about any big players (dragons? giants?). Kind of make epic more about well, your home country and then using that as a launching point toward saving the world.

I'm not sure that'd be a horrible thing.

*Ducks thrown fruit*

Wait! Hear me out!

Union's problems, IMO, were in the execution, not the underlying concept. So I think it could work.

However, that said, if we're going to see a "home base city" for the epic tier in DMG3, I'd personally vote for the City of Brass. :D

Don't remember a single thing about Union, never read the details. But I'm a bit pissed about Sigil: they already detailed it in the Manual of the Planes, why again? I would rather have two locations, one in Feywild and one in Shadowfell, or maybe some Astral Dominion.
Speaking of them, another option for DMG3 could easily be Hestavar.
Aww and what about Arvandor?? It could make a veeery good Paragon and/or Epic starting point. It's a Feywild into the Feywild (well, out of, but connected), and it screams out for high fantasy things, like FR Evermeet or the classic Avalon.
