DMs Help ME Sorcerer Just Picked Contingency!

So, Kwiqsilver, consider making "when I cast iron body on myself" as your trigger! ^_^ Have it fire off tenser's transformation, haste, and something else useful (polyself, for a good combat shape, maybe?). ^_^
That's a crafty tactic. If that character comes back out of retirement, I'll have to use that.

Ultimately, you can't be lawer-ish and avoid gamespeak at the same time. So if the player told you "look, whenever someone makes an attack roll against me" or even as others have said "when you say 'roll initative'", those sound good for metagame explanations of in-game triggers. Don't be afraid to step outside the game a little to clear things up.

Also, I strongly reccomend houseruling Contingency to only apply to things that the character is aware of (or would be aware of if conscious), in order to avoid silly things like "I go invisible when someone prepares an attack against me", or even "the spell goes off if so-and-so-lies". Contingency as super divination doesn't sit well with me.

I think the answer to this is simple.

If you have to ask for clarification, it's too general. This is obviously one of those times. There are plenty of other crafty things he can use to activate (as people have demonstrated on this thread) that are much less ambiguous.

He could simply set the trigger to be when he speaks a certain password. Whenever he wants to get invisibilized, he can simply speak the password, and speaking a single word is a free action. Obviosuly, he should be sure to make the password something one would never use in normal speech.
