El-remmen, love the House Flumphs!

I stole that from somewhere. . . I wanna say from something I read about Chris Perkins' homebrew, but I could be wrong. . .

Anyway, it was a throwaway line somewhere, and I picked up on it. :)

I don't have a player's guide for my campaign but I do have House Rules and Table Rules that I give to each player to read before they start. Them actually reading them in another thing entirely! A bit sad considering that there is only 1 page of House Rules and 4 pages of Table Rules. :( Note: If any of the House or Table Rules look familiar it is because I stole a lot of them from fellow EN Worlders! ;)

Olaf:

You've got a great set of house and table rules. The format was plain. Without changing any verbage, I put it into a sample alternative format with a simple graphic (it's just for ideas, I'm not telling you what to do or anything). I just thought the graphic was cool anyways :) Maybe it will give you some ideas.

I'm surprised more of you aren't putting a world or regional map in your campaign/HR books. Any reason why not?
Because my map is hand drawn just for me at the moment. I do not have the fancy map drawing software, and I have neither the time nor inclination to learn one. I am moving some of the party activity to the Wilderlands of High Fantasy, so I will have maps there.

That looks great Emirikol! :)

Snazzing it up a bit definitely makes it more appealing. Maybe if I did something more like that my players would be more inclined to read it! Setting the House Rules out under various headings seems to improve the readability of the document too. Good job.

Most people will put their Campaign/House Rulebooks in Players handbook chapter format. I did the same with my current version, but I'm actually leaning towards putting the "Combat" and actual gaming rules in the front and putting the character creation junk in an appendix in the back. Afterall, the most referenced rules in our game are ACTION POINTS, fumble, "living life" etc. rules.

If you've got a pre-published world you use, you can find lots of simple maps online to put in the back (or sometimes I've seen people put them on the COVER of their book). If you don't have mapping software (or the inclination to bother), it never hurts to use MSPaint or simply photocopy your handdrawn map and staple it to the back.

One bit of advice: usage of color means that you're having your players eating up their printer cartridges. Although it makes for a more beautiful product, I don't put that burden on my players.

Thoughts?

I have been officially out-geeked. I need to show this to my players to prove it. I have to figure out where to put mine, since it is too large to upload here.

You could break it into a couple parts (I, II, III). I'd like to see it. It sounds very comprehensive.

Do you print copies for your players or do they print their own?

One more question: where is "Room 12" from on your EnWorld Sig Avatar?

I give my players color printed, comb-bound copies of my book. This way they have no excuses for not printing it out. Plus, I like using my Xerox Subsidy at work. :D
