DM's Toolbox: Template

Hi folks,

just to make sure that I get this right:

I want to use the Death Master Template (DMG p187) on a Hobgoblin Warcaster (MM p. 140).

Do I get it right that I add 8 times 3 plus 14 = 38 HPs ?
Which makes a total of 84 HPs?

And that for a 3rd Level Elite Monster? Which means it is worth 300 XP?
