Is the starting level 9? what type of character would fit into the group best?
I have a few ideas.

A Lycanthrope with natural attacks, reach and an expert grappler. He does all his adventuring in hybrid form. He acts and thinks very much like an animal.

A human barbarian really aggressive and obsessed with combat like a true berserker.

A large heavily armored fighter. ogre or half ogre. Grown up in human society a bit quiet and shy not aggressive at all unless provoked.

You might want to look at the rogue's gallery here to have a look at our current party (active PCs are (from top to bottom): Thok (Half-Orc Barbarian), Herriman (Halfling Rogue/Incarnate/Umbral Disciple), Lórquelië (Elf Conjurer/incantatrix). Joining us shortly are Geryk (Cleric/Radiant Servant) and Zinerath (Tiefling Rogue /Barbarian / Demon Bloodline etc.)

Regarding the ideas you've posted, you might want to check Thok for overlap, especially. I think he pretty much fits the role of the brute meleeist -- although he has a good heart.

I think a lot of character concepts can work in this game and with this party. If you want a suggestion, though, we could use a Ranger or Scout, probably.

It seems you are set on playing a melee character. My advice is to avoid being a fighter (the class) and anything with a LA. Avoid grappling like the plague - it's great in concept, but completely ruined by a level 4 spell or by other fun things such as flight, incorporeality or even a simple "immune to non-lethal damage" as well as DR/magic. Grappling deals mundane damage.

For Melee you'd be better going Lion Spirit Totem Barbarian 1/Warblade x. But that requires you to have Tome of Battle and reading trough it's mechanics.

Being a lycanthrope is flavorful but very very sub-par. It has LA coupled with animal hit dice. That will make you feel very inadequate compared to the rest of the party.

I'd suggest you play a Shifter Druid instead. They can get very melee heavy but they still get full Druid spellcasting and if you take the sub levels - an interesting replacement for Animal Companion.

If you allow me to use the lower la from races of faerun. (+2 for a natural lycanthrope) I could use a level or two of warshaper for greater hp and damage.
Either way he should be able to dish out at least 3d6+10 of lethal damage every grappling round. a lot more if you allow the lycanthropic feat feat crushing hug. (double str bonus in grapple), ability to make 5 attacks of opurtunity with 3d6+10 damage each with reach should prove usefull especially at higher levels combined with large and in charge feat.

I have to agree with the others, a druid is a mechanically more sound way to achieve what you are looking for. Be sure to take the feat that allows Druids to cast spells while in wild shape and you can adventure in animal form most of the time. Wizards recently made Crystal Keep cease and desist their wonderful .pdf's that collected up all the feats and creatures. However, with a little google searching you can still find them. Try 'crystalkeep creatures dnd 3_5' and you should be able to find a nice organized list of potential wild shape choices broken down by level.

I want a character that focuses more on melee than spells so my idea is druid 5 warshaper 4, but one thing I am unsure about is if the druid and warshaper levels stack when calculating what size of wildshapes that are available. I think it should since it still won't be as powerful as a druid 9. Brown bear form with wildling clasped items, bearshaped wildwood full plate and a couple of feats that enhance claw and bite damage should work. If the levels don't stack I will just have to come up with another concept.

Backies, History is geting done (Copy/Past? Ha! I'm over 1,900 words in and I've yet to start on the adventure part of the history! >:D) That said, it's entirely compatable with Scotley's/Geryk's History.
(I'm hoping it won't go over 3k ^^; )

Also, I've reworking his skills a we bit to give him more Languages, so he will also be able to speak Abyssal and Celestial (each costing 2 SP do to being cross class skills)
Languages: Abyssal*, Celestial*, Common, Draconic, Goblin, Infernal, and Orcish.
[*Acquired through skill point buy in]
Addon: might want to add chapter two to the front page links :3
Addon2: Btw, I'm also ready to RP when ever, and don't forget Zinerath has a wagon (pulled by two mules: Horses are expensive O_O; ) and I think it would be odd if it just appered as an after thought. ... I'm expecting loot to be heavy? :3
Addon3: Yes, I talk, a lot, Any ways, while the history I'm (re)writing is not yet finished, it is basicly a more detailed version of the one Scotley made that focuses on Zinerath, it will have some new bits, but in the scope of things they will amount to fluf and some character development.
(in just, he really, REALLY hates litchs, they are one of only a few things he will outright try to murder without an explanation. To emphasize how odd that is for him, if he ran into a random vampire that had fresh blood dripping down it's mouth, he would not attack it unless it gave him cause to, and would even talk to it as if it were just a passing Paladin if it behaved itself. So, yes, he Really Hates litchs.)
