What's embarrassing is I think the design was done by James Haeck, a dmsguild adept and lead writer for dndbeyond. Good thing these ttrpg companies prioritize "culture fit" ...

They're cool subclasses that do what they set out to do, and absolutely won't break any games in any way.

Places like enworld tend to focus in enough on a system that imbalances are exagerated.

While I don't know for sure what overrated really means here, I think you mean that it isn't as important as people act like it is? I kinda agree, at least in the context of 5e, and the fact that 5e is well balanced enough that pretty much every concern people freak out about isn't actually a real problem.
