Do hitpoints stay the same when you Polymorph?

I just wanted to know if hps stayed the same when you polymorph.

The PHB says you get the CON of the creature you polymorph into so, by rights, your hps should be altered accordingly shouldn't they?

Hit points stay the same.

If you are just using the PHB then it is a very long debate between the people who agree with you and the people who are wrong.


But, by the current rules, you most certainly do not change HP. The new polymorph rules are in several book now (as well as online I'm almost certain) and I think they are a decent fix.

What about saving throws? Do they stay the same?

The PHB says you get the STR, DEX and CON of the creature you assume. Do the bonuses of these apply to your stats (like saving throws)?

Only hit points don't change. All other things (including saves and attacks, etc.) change due to the newly gained modifiers.
