Do not get the new patch!

So, let's say someone (that would be me) installed the latest patch and is now unable to join the server.

Do I just wait until y'all catch up, or is their some way to undo that last patch?

Thanks

Depends on your preference.. I had hoped the En server would update but no joy so far. For my own part I see no point in going backwards so I'll wait until the server updates if at all :(

However to go back to a previous patch I seem to recall instructions are on the official NWN site.. you have to place the previous patch winzip in a folder and run the update if i recall or something similar.

There's a revert patch on Bioware's site. Just go in the patch section, then HotU, and english, it should be right there.

That's the way for Platinum who want to play too (Get 1.64, then revert to 1.62).

I can update at any time, but I'm not sure when's best to do it. How many people already have the patch, and how many haven't yet?

It's better to just do it. An updated patch shouldn't be polled. It is a fact of life with NWN.

Patch it, and they will come...

Personally, I don't know much about module editing, but from the looks of the posts on the CEP boards at nwn.bioware.com it seems that .2da files edited in the patch will not be changed in a 1.01 CEP module...so a lot of the fixes that the patch makes will not show up, and there may be some potential conflicts.

But I'm not an expert on this; just a guy who likes playing on the server : )

Does that mean it'll cause problems without a CEP update?

I have the patch morrus and im using a the current version of CEP and I havent noticed any problems yet myself... (not saying there may not be any but I havent noticed any so far).

That said considering the CEP folks are officially endorsed if there are any issues and their pending update doesnt resolve them and is not 100% compliant with the latest official patch ill be amazed!

This is correct. They say you can go in and add/update some of the files manualy(if you know what you are doing...) but that there WILL be conflics before the patch and the new creatures added in the NWN patch wont work correctly.

Personaly I think its not a bad idea to wait for the CEP Patch. Also in reply to the above poster that sais "just do it" I also feel that its not a bad idea to give people a day or two notice before any major update is applied so they can plan acordingly. There are still a lot of us out here that have dialup connections.

That said, I downloaded the NWN critical update patch (60 MB) the other night and its sitting on my hard drive for use whenever needed. It took well over 3 hours to download. Im hoping that the CEP patch will not be so large.

Peace
