"Do those games have torture?" and other experiences

I'm coming into this a bit late, but I just checked out Misery and it's a great gaming blog thus far. Some cool nostalgia, and I like your use of images for the games you discuss. Well-written too, though in places a bit sparse (I wanted more on Star Frontiers, dammit! :) )

One question: you describe Misery as your experiences in juggling gaming with family, faith, work. You haven't yet really discussed those three issues (though faith came up a bit with the "D&D is Satanic" topic). Are they coming up?

Good job!

I happened upon this thread, and checked out the blog. I like it! The headlines don't bother me. The use of a curse word in a headline doesn't drive me away, I guess.

I'm amazed that it would bother *anyone*. But c'est la vie, and all that. :)

Checked it out. Didn't mind the naughty language. I use worse language than that every day. I expect it in my games. I'm honestly surprised that anyone was seriously put off by it.

I also enjoyed the anecdotes. Thanks for the linkee.

Yup, it's coming. When my daughter was born (2 1/2 years ago :) ) my life changed completely, and that included, of course, my gaming life. Part of my current frustrations revolve around the fact that I spend far more time reading/designing adventures/posting
on forums ;) than I do actually playing. Such is life with kids.

Party Roles

OK, A couple days ago, I saw a post that had classes broken out by party roles. "Primary Fighter", "Backup Healer", "Primary Spellcaster". Now, when I want to read the system, I can't fiond it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Actually, I haven't got a clue what you're talking about. I suspect you've posted a message to the wrong thread.

Anyway, back to the blog . . . I loved the latest entry (The loneliness of the long distance gamer). KEep up the great work.

Actually, I just bought Star Frontiers on Ebay and should be getting it by next week. I'm going to do a whole entry on SF and space opera in general. ;) And just wait until I Get my hands on Ultimate Rifts next week . . . :D :D :D
