MaelStorm said:EDIT: What I get from WotC is that profit is more important than release a complete product, so they can sell it later on, plus they can push more DDI content.
MaelStorm said:This is one big problem, I know. But I'm an unhappy customer and I'll be completely happy only in june next year with the return of bards, druids, sorcerer and barbarian. All primal class. Plus controllers are limited to Wizard only.
Good for you. Not for me. I'm not on the payroll of WotC and I don't know why I should understand their problem or schemes. I'm a customer.DreamChaser said:Hmmmm....have we ever tabulated how many times per new edition the following point needs to be made...I wonder:
WotC is a company, business, corporation. Of course they are trying to make a profit. If they were not there making a profit, we would not have a game to play without creating it ourselves.
If a company has a choice between two paths, both of which satisfy all of their customers eventually but one of which increases their profit margins at the same time, they would be both stupid and irresponsible to choose the lower profit option.
Do I miss the bard? I'm I annoyed at waiting for the psionic classes? Yes to both.
Do I blame WotC for not trying to print a 700 page $55 dollar Player's Handbook? No. I woudn't want such an insane book.
Do I blame WotC for choosing a path the focuses in a a few power sources so that they can really explore them within the books? No.
Do I blame them for not adding in 2 more classes at the cost of each class having 25% less space devoted to them? No.
I think it is important to maintain perspective on this.

Thanks Clark,Orcus said:Hopefully we will be able to solve that problem for you on an interim basis. I've had Ari develop classes missing from the new PHB. If the new GSL lets us, we will get that stuff out to you guys right away.
I want to play 4E. And my 4E needs to have bards and druids and stuff like that. Which is the joy of being a gamer and a publisher. If the rules arent there that I want to play with, I have someone make themIn this case, a leading WotC freelancer--Ari.
So it is going to depend on what the new GSL says.
Keep your fingers crossed.
But as a customer, you also want the object of your patronage to stay in business, no? Therefore it *is* important.MaelStorm said:Good for you. Not for me. I'm not on the payroll of WotC and I don't know why I should understand their problem or schemes. I'm a customer.
WotC has Magic, Minis and is part of Hasbro. They are far from being out of business. They are releasing an incomplete product for more profit that is my customer perception. I would have prefered a 600-page PHB instead of waiting a year.ruleslawyer said:But as a customer, you also want the object of your patronage to stay in business, no? Therefore it *is* important.
Please, there are already enough people whinging about the "buy-in" cost for D&D.MaelStorm said:WotC has Magic, Minis and is part of Hasbro. They are far from being out of business. You have 3 months to put your money in the piggy bank, that's not enough?hong said:Please, there are already enough people whinging about the "buy-in" cost for D&D.
