guess those weapons need to get 2d8 base damage then...If Versatile was 1d12, then there would be no reason to use a 2-handed Greatsword or Greataxe. Just 2-hand the Versatile weapon for the same damage.

Cheating people out of effectiveness is not okay just because they're not looking for it.People did the same thing with the Champion subclass. It was determined to do less damage than a Battlemaster who never got a single short rest. Champion remains the more played choice.
People will argue, champion players will still take Flex even if the charop peeps determine it to be trash.
Nope! Thanks for the idea though. Assume that isn't an option for the designers. What would the solution be if you didn't just bump up the damage of all 2-hd weapons?guess those weapons need to get 2d8 base damage then...

What about 1d12 weapons? We don't really have many 1d16 dice lying around.guess those weapons need to get 2d8 base damage then...

The greatsword or greataxe would also get a weapon mastery along with the damage. Flex is a weapon mastery, so if a versatile weapon was used two handed, the user would have to choose between flex and whatever else was the option, so why not?If Versatile was 1d12, then there would be no reason to use a 2-handed Greatsword or Greataxe. Just 2-hand the Versatile weapon for the same damage.
2d8 damage is almost as ridiculous as 2d10 damage. I believe that both are beyond the scope of the 2024 updates.Rebel against the jerk who made it not an option.
2d6 > 1d12. So the greatsword would be used because if you're not expecting to flex then why not?If Versatile was 1d12, then there would be no reason to use a 2-handed Greatsword or Greataxe. Just 2-hand the Versatile weapon for the same damage.
